Honda has confirmed that the production version of the CR-Z hybrid will be launched in February 2010. The hybrid will be first unveiled in Japan while North America and Europe will receive it at a later date. Honda also revealed that it will present the production version at the Detroit Motor Show next year.
The production version will be based on CR-Z Concept 2009 that is being shown at the Tokyo Motor Show. Since the CR-Z Concept 2009 is almost production ready, expect minor changes for the actual production model. The CR-Z Concept 2009 is motivated by Honda’s IMA hybrid system that also includes a 1.5 liter i-VTEC engine that is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Look for an image gallery after the jump.

Turns out that the Honda P-NUT is not some sort of twist on the UX-3 unicycle thing we saw in Tokyo recently. Instead, the concept vehicle is a three-seat thing enclosed in lots of glass and angular lines. Honda says the P-NUT is ready for one of three possible powertrains: an efficient gas engine, a gas-electric hybrid, or a pure electric set up. There's not a whole lot of room for any of these powerplants up front because the driver's leg room extends almost all the way to the front of the concept. Good thing the power source is intended to be mounted in the rear.
Let's be clear, this is a pure concept car. There are no side mirrors (but there is a back-up camera). Bumpers? Bah, Honda barely put headlights on this thing. Still, the Honda 'Personal-Neo Urban Transport' could make for a pretty sweet ride through a city, with lots of sight lines for the three inhabitants (a driver in the front middle, two passengers arranged behind and to either side) to see out of. The P-NUT does succeed in Honda's stated goal to get the most space out of a small footprint, and we wouldn't mind some sort of production version BEV someday. Chances are, though, that this is the last we'll ever see of it.

Honda unveils its FC Sport fuel cell concept car as the Los Angeles Auto Show opens for press previews at the Los Angeles Convention Center on November 18, 2008 in Los Angeles, California. Against a backdrop of economic upheaval, General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC will be virtual no-shows with no senior executives in attendance nor holding any press conferences as they concentrate on lobbying for federal bailouts. Ford Motor Co. will be the only big American auto maker to have a significant presence at the annual event and compete with participating foreign car makers. The first major North American auto show of the season opens to the public on November 21 and continues through November 30.

In 28 years of 10Best competition, Honda’s Accord has made the list 24 times. Somewhere in Japan, there are about 200 engineers wringing their hands and asking each other, “Where’d we go wrong in those four losing years?” Maybe that’s why the car is so good.
In ’08, the redesigned Accord sedan vaulted into the EPA’s large-car domain yet retained the taut, square-jawed underpinnings that make it so gratifyingly competent to drive. The automatic transmission never draws attention to itself, body motions are subdued, the cockpit is hushed, the steering discreetly reveals what the front tires are up to, and the 2.4-liter four is not only quick to rev but also offers the idle quality of a six.
But what so reliably sets the Accord apart is its platform—as solid and unyielding as a shotgun barrel.
If the sedan pegs your personal blandness meter, investigate the slick coupe. When fitted with the 271-hp V-6, it becomes an Accord coup. Row through the velvety manual six-speed—barking the front tires something fierce as you shift into second—and 60 mph manifests in 5.6 seconds. It feels peculiar to be nailing apexes and heel-and-toeing in an Accord—it’s like yelling at your mom—but it’s okay to tell friends that this is the spiritual successor to the feisty Prelude.
The V-6 coupe could benefit from less torque steer, a less confusing center stack, and a friendlier sticker—an over-$30K Accord is in Celine Dion territory. She could call hers the Accord Dion.Continued...
